It actively participates in the free breast cancer screening program \u201cFofi Gennimata.\u201d Beneficiaries of the breast cancer prevention program can undergo free digital mammograms at all of Kosmoiatriki\u2019s Diagnostic Centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beneficiaries of the \u201cFofi Gennimata\u201d Breast Cancer Prevention Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All women with a valid Social Security Number (AMKA), aged between 45 and 74, are eligible for the free breast screening program \u201cFofi Gennimata.\u201d Exceptions include women who have already undergone a breast examination within the past year or those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer within the last five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, European guidelines recommend digital mammography every two years for women aged 50\u201369.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, women who have had a mammogram in the previous year are not advised to repeat the examination in the current year. However, if specific reasons necessitate repeating the exam, it can be conducted through EOPYY using the standard procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Program beneficiaries who have registered for paperless prescriptions will receive their referral via SMS or email. Those not registered for paperless prescriptions can retrieve their referral using their Social Security Number (AMKA) through EOPYY\u2019s online platform under the \u201cAction Check\u201d field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Preventive Screening Program (NPSP) issues electronic referrals, valid for one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Breast Screening: The Choice That Can Save Your Life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Digital Mammography<\/strong><br>Digital mammography is the preferred screening method for breast cancer. For many years, it has replaced analog mammography, which used older imaging technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Digital mammography uses minimal radiation, which is entirely safe and poses no health risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This method effectively detects solid and cystic lesions as well as areas with suspicious abnormalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to current guidelines, healthy and asymptomatic women should undergo their first mammographic screening at age 35 (commonly referred to as the baseline mammogram). Mammograms should then be repeated every two years after the age of 40. For women over 50, annual mammograms are recommended.
